Gautam Gambhir is one of the perfect batsmen of the present era. His nick name is “Gauti”, and was born in 1981 at Delhi. He is an opening batsman of the Indian cricket team.
Gambhir made his test debut at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against Australia in 2004/2005, but he failed to show his performance in his first test match. He played his first ODI match in the TVS Cup against Bangladesh at Dhaka, where he made 71 runs in the third match of the series and became the man-of-the-match.
He has played a total 35 test and 100 one-day matches in his career. His highest scores are 206 and 150 in the test and one-day matches respectively. He has 9 test centuries and 7 one-day centuries. For the outstanding performance, Gambhir was signed by the team of Delhi Daredevils at the rate of US $725,000 in Indian Premier League (IPL) for the season of 2008. He played a total14 matches in IPL and scored 534 runs, including five half-centuries. He became the second highest scorer in the IPL, and it was 86. His strike rate was 140.89.
