Tim McIntosh became just the sixth New Zealand batsmen to score an away century and he did that against top side in the test and completed his second ton in style. Martin Guptill on the other hand made a handsome 85 getting back into the test side and proved his worth in the team.
McIntosh was lucky to get away with two chances when he was on five and eleven was firstly a no ball and was then dropped by dhoni consecutively. Those were the only two instance when he looked quite uncomfortable rest he was well settled and was finally sent to pavilion again by Zaheer Khan just five minutes before the stumps to make India’s effort worth something. Guptill played a very coming to form knock with some pinch of aggression but was a bit unsettled in his early 20 runs but was then only came to rest after making a beautiful half century when he was done lbw by Ojha. There wasn’t much from the other New Zealand batsmen as both of them put up a 147 run stand and others just made some little contributions.
India bowlers certainly looked to struggle against the positively framed New Zealand side which looked held more competitive spirit after a decent performance in the first test. The day was just got a bit better for India towards the end when Zaheer Khan removed McIntosh and Taylor who was had started to look somewhat dangerous and when Ojha got rid of Guptill. India will have to restrict New Zealand to the least score as they can on the second day of the test.
