Sri Lanka achieved their mission of winning their maiden series win in Australia which they had been trying hard to achieve for the past 26 years. They played very well against a team like Australia and have won the series with still one more game to go, while Australia tasted their seventh consecutive defeat.
Even though the game was troubled by the rain a couple of times but there wasn’t much wrong about their game as the only time they struggled were the first two over in which they failed to score but as soon as the openers Upul Tharanga who played a solid knock of unbeaten 86, while Dilshan was unstoppable after he got onto his game and made a quick fire 47 before being done lbw by Watson.
The rain disturbed the game twice in Sri Lanka’s innings before it stopped at 213/3 in 41.1 overs but not even the weather was able to stop the Sri Lankan’s from playing with so much passion and the score went on to 244 in 39 overs for Australia when they came on to bat by the Duckworth Lewis method.
The rains only made things difficult for the hosts on a seemer friendly wicket, while a short rain again turned the score to 240 which didn’t help them much. The Australian started by scoring more then run a ball but mistakes weren’t far to come by the hosts and one by one they were reduced down to 80 for 4 in which haddin made jus 3 runs,Ponting scoring 10 and Clarke 25 to leave the hosts in trouble and made the game one sided from where there was no come back happened for the Australians.
The Australian fans were left disappointed to see their team losing their seven consecutive games. Australia needs to get into their winning ways again if they want to retain their Ashes cup which is not too far away from now.
