Biography -Graeme Smith


Graeme Craig Smith is a famous cricket player of South African team . Currently he is in top list among the Test batsmans in ICC,and he is also the captain of South African cricket team.
Smith was born in 'Johannesburg, Transvaal Province' in South Africa. He completed his education at 'King Edward VII School'.
Before his international career he played three test and seven ODI-one Day International for South Africa in 'Under 19 Cricket World cup'.Because of the excellent performance in the 2001-2002 South African cricket season he was awarded as the 'South African Cricketer of the Year'. He is well known as 'Biff' among the cricket lovers.
He played for 'Gauteng'-1999/2000,'Hampshire Cricket Board'-2000,' Western Province'-2000/01-2003/04,'Cape Cobras'- 2004/05-present and 'Somerset'-2005 in his domestic cricket life currently he is also playing for 'Rajasthan Royals' in IPL-Indian Premium League.
Smith got his successful test debut Against Australia scoring 286 runs on 8 March 2002 and also ODI debut on 30 March 2002. His ODI shirt number is 15.His batting style is 'Left- Handed' and Bowling style is 'Right arm Break off'.Currently he is the Opener and the Captain of the South African team and Sometimes also act as an occasional Off spinner .He is known for his successful opening partnership with 'Herschelle Gibbs' the most ever successful opening partnership in the International cricket ground. Smith was a part of four South Africa's opening partnerships of over 300. The important thing about these partnerships was, three times partnered by Herschelle Gibbs. He has also made world record partnership of 415 runs in Test cricket with 'Neil McKenzie ' against Bangladeshi Tem in 2008.
Smith was punished several times by the ICC-International Cricket council for various infringements,and once he was accused by 'Dwayne Bravo' (The well known West Indies All rounder ) for racial abuse ,but he was cleared from those allegations.
On 07 January 2009 Smith showed his unbeatable courage by attempting to save the 3d test in second innings with a broken hand,but he fell down on the remaining last ten balls.
