Younis and Misbah shock the mighty Proteas

Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-haq gifted Pakistani fans a draw from the jaws of defeat on the auspicious day of Eid. Firstly Younis Khan along with Azhar occupied the crease to put up a stand of 86 runs to provide them a much needed partnership, Azhar also made his third half century during the partnership with Younis Khan.
Younis Khan didn’t stop even after the dismissal of Azhar. Misbah came in to occupy the crease after Azhar and Younis along with Misbah this time had put up a stand of unbeaten 186 for the fourth wicket, which is the highest partnership against the Proteas. Though Younis had been lucky a couple of times from getting out but still he managed to stay calm and finish an unbeaten innings also completing his 17th century.

Misbah also grabbed the opportunity to show up his talent on the most required occasion and took the advantage and also made an unbeaten half century, even he was lucky a few times. South Africa’s bowling was testing for the Pakistani batsmen’s as they were tested by bouncers and swing bowling but their fielding was a much of a concern for them as it is said catches win matches. South Africa was quite sloppy in the field as they dropped both the Younis and Misbah couple of times, which could have turned the course of the match in their favour.

In the end it will be Pakistan who will be walking out happy with their performance on the last day. South Africa would be disappointed as they missed another opportunity to grab the game. Pakistan still needs appreciation as they didn’t lose their cool in such a pressure situation and which won them a draw.

Gayle cracks triple ton to thrash Sri Lanka

Gayle showed the signs of aggression on the first day making his double ton and he just carried his innings from where he left today. He scored a massive triple hundred which was his second and he became just the forth batsmen to do that in international cricket just after Don Bradman, Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag. He along with Brendon Nash again broke the back of the Sri Lank an attack.

Brendon Nash played much of a supportive role along with the destructor Gayle. Nash completed his supportive half century and Gayle smashed another triple ton to put Sri Lanka in deeper trouble. Mendis and Randiv bowled well for Sri Lanka and Mendis in the end got rid of Gayle and Nash to get them some relief. Mendis took six wickets for his team and he bagged the last few wickets of West Indies in just no time, but it was too late for Mendis to come into action as they had already done the damage and West Indies were 580/9 in the end of the innings when they declared.

Sri Lanka came to bat with Dilshan opening with Paranavitana, West Indies seamer Russell struck Dilshan early and was gone for a duck while the day ended with no more damge for Sri Lanka when Sangakkara came on the crease and stayed till the end of the day. Sri Lanka has suffered a huge destruction from West Indies, they will have to give a good fight back to make a comeback in the game.

Gayle Thrash Sri Lankan Bowlers

West Indies won the toss in the first test against Sri Lanka and they decided to bat first looking the flat Galle pitch in hope of scoring big and putting pressure on the opponents. Caribbean skipper’s decision was proved right by his senior pro Gayle as he devastated the Sri Lanka bowling to score a blistering double on the first day.

Sri Lankan bowlers were left restless as Gayle along with Adrian Bharath’s supportive knock of 58 also making his second half century. On the other hand Gayle was continuing his rampage even after Bharath’s dismissal. Darren Bravo, the debutant also played well to score a classy half century with Gayle encouraging the youngster on the other hand with his destructive innings to put the pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers. Gayle remained unbeaten till the very end of the day and scored a outrageous double ton hitting 26 fours and 8 huge sixes, which is most by any Caribbean batsmen in a single innings.

Gayle exploited the conditions very well and the day ended on a high note for West Indies and they finished for 362/2. Sri Lanka on the other were left to think upon their mistakes and would have to comeback strongly if they have to be in the game.

Pakistan struggle to fight back against South Africa

Once again Amla and Kallis provided a solid stand for South Africa to give them a huge lead against Pakistan and post a big total in front of them. After the dismissal of both the openers for South Africa, Kallis and Amla came to the rescue them as both of them put up a 242 run unbeaten stand for the third wicket.
Kallis was aggressive during the first session and had hit four sixes in his innings of unbeaten 135 to reach to his 36th century, while Amla carried his graceful innings full of stylish strokes and he also made his 11th century. Pakistan bowlers were kept at bay by both the batsmen and there was no hope for the bowlers at all.
The match has now been totally out of Pakistan’s reach and they could only hope for some miracle to save them from loss. Pakistan will be disappointed with their performance and would have to work hard to improve. Pakistan is got to learn a lot after the end of the game. Their bowling was considered as their main strength but it also disappointed them a lot as they went wicket-less on the fourth day.
